Third and final call for papers …. Final deadline Easter Monday 17th April New deadline for Hotels at Conference Rates: April 20th
This is the third and final call for papers. We have already had a good response but we welcome more papers, in particular for the following strands:
(1) body semiotics
The role of body semiotics in social interaction e.g. children’s play and development; relationships between gesture, gaze, movement, oral discourse and other semiotic modalities in semiosis; the role of gesture and other semiotic modalities in ritual interactions of all kinds, such as greetings, religious, civic or legal rituals; gesture and other semiotic modalities in multimodal human-machine interaction; gesture and cognition; gesture in the theatre, theatrical and other studies (…..and many others).
(2) multimedia translation
This strand includes: Film translation, subtitling, dubbing, voiceovers; localisation and internationalisation; teaching methods, teacher roles and the use of technology in training; corpus-based approaches; transcription techniques; multimedia/multimodal translation in relation to dynamic (e.g. films, websites and computer games) and static texts (e.g. packaging of consumer products).
(3) science and technology
The strand includes: Multimodal mathematical and scientific discourse; mathematical symbolism and visual images; tools, instruments and artifacts, pedagogical implications of a multisemiotic approach to science; multimodality and science education websites; multimedia literacy and the scientific curriculum.
(4) Tourism and Museums
The strand includes: Multimodal studies of tourist cities, museums and art galleries (open air, virtual etc.), multimodal semiotics of buildings, shops, city layouts and their design.
Please note: we have now extended the period for which hotel accommodation is pegged at the Conference Rates until April 20th. After that we will endeavour to provide the assistance we can.
